The fall colours were out in all their glory and it was absolutely stunning.

I've made a step up with my bicycle and gone to clipless pedals. I've got the hang of it now and have only fallen a few times still attached to my bicycle. I haven't fallen while I've been riding, only when I'm standing still while I have one foot still clipped in. Its so ridiculous because I'll just be standing there and then all of a sudden I'm on the ground.
Jodi and Kevan made it down and on Saturday we took our bikes out and headed downtown along the Rideau canal. We live close to the end of it and there's a path that runs along the canal that takes you downtown to the Parliament buildings.
On Sunday we went to the Gatineau Hills. We encountered some major traffic problems as everyone else wanted to go to the Hills as well. We ended up skirting around the backway and came across a lovely path full of the fall colours. (though they say its not a good year for the reds)

On Monday we went to the National Art Gallery and I must say the highlight was the Contemporary gallery. We saw a bunch of works by the Group of Seven and Tom Thompson, but I always seem to enjoy the contemporary works more.
Here's a picture of my favourite. A gigantic baby head. It was so realistic. The wrinkles in its forehead, the veins, even its hair. So crazy.

It was such a beautiful weekend of enjoying the outdoors and spending time with good friends. Much to be thankful for indeed.

Katherine, looks like you had a great weekend! I didn't know Jody and Kevan were out easy or were they just visiting? Love that baby head picture! Kylie
oops i mean out east
I haven't heard either of Jodi and Kevan being easy, but that weather looks awesome! Happy thanksgiving to the Easterners. Good to see you back in the saddle Katherine.
Wow
That is the most amazing baby head I have ever seen. Damn, I wish I had thought of that first.
yay, Contemp Art.
Seeing that baby head makes me so happy. It's one of the best things I've seen in a long time.
THANK you for posting that.
I think of you two, there is a big gap/crater/coulee in Lethbridge - a new one has been carved out.
did you know that?
that's right, it happened when you left.
And I just filled it with stringy cheddar!
Love you!
Rin
Katherine - my detective sister told me she found some photos of me in Ottawa on the web...what a wonderful weekend! I can't believe it was so warm - moving on from the rain it's now snowing in London. But sitting by my fire I am still thinking fondly about the most tasty Thanksgiving nut roast...mmmm...
Kylie, Jodi and Kevan are out east! They're doing their masters. Its so nice to know that we're not all alone out here and we have good friends close by.
Corinne! It's so good to hear from you. I can't even tell you how cool the baby head was, but I think you know judging by your reaction.
Jodi, you can't talk about the nut roast. I start salivating as soon as I start thinking about it. Chris made the most amazing nut roast in the world. I highly recommend as an addition to any Thanksgiving table.
